PSP Converting Text To Curves Tutorial |
l |
This is an advanced level of text effects. Please make sure you complete each step before proceeding to the next. This tutorial also introduces the use of "Vector" objects with the use of "Preset Shapes"; objects that can be manipulated (resized, redirected, etc). It may seem confusing at first, but if you follow each step individually it will quickly fall into place. |
Step 1.In the first text tutorial, we used the "Color Palette" toolbar to select our solid font color. This time, we are going to use the color palette option that is available within the "Text" toolbar. |
Step 2.Find and click on your "Preset" tool, which is the icon with the circle and square in it.
Step 3. Next, click on the "Tool Options" toolbar to select a preset shape.
Step 4.When the "Tool Options" toolbar expands, you will be able to select a shape. For this example, we will select "Ellipse". You should also check the box beside "Antialias" and "Create As Vector".
Step 5.Now return to your wrapper and draw a half circle in the text area.
Step 7.Now click on your "Text" tool and return to your wrapper. You will want to hold your cursor somewhere on the new circle until the letter "A" appears (this lets you know your text will be converted to the shape you've created) and click.
Step 8.Your text dialog box will open and you will be able to select your font, the size and colors for your text. It's important that your "Create As" choices remain at "Floating" and "Antialias". Then click "OK" to add your text to the wrapper. You should notice that your text follows the shape of the ellipse.
Step 9.At this point you can move your "Floating" text around to properly position it. Once you have it exactly where you want it, you will need to "defloat" it by right-clicking your mouse anywhere on the image. A dialog box will open asking you if you want to defloat your image. Select "Yes".
Step 10.Now your ellipse shape will be the active image (notice the lines around it). Simply hit the delete button on your keyboard and the ellipse will disappear.
Step 11.Leaving you with curved text.
