| Remember...always make backup copies of your files. This tutorial assumes that you have basic experience using PSP. |
This tutorial provides examples on using PSP for applying text effects to candy wrappers. |
Step 1.First, you will want to open the wrapper inside Paint Shop Pro Remember to use the File > Save As feature after you've completed creating your new wrapper design to avoid saving your changes to the original file.
Step 2.In the first text tutorial, we used the "Color Palette" toolbar to select our solid font color. This time, we are going to use the color palette option that is available within the "Text" toolbar. |
Step 3.find the text icon on your toolbar. It is the icon with a capital "A". Click on it, then click somewhere within the text area of your wrapper. A "Text Entry" dialog box should open up.
Step 4. Inside the font dialog box, select your font name, select your font size (48 is usually good to start but any size is fine), and under the "Create As" section, click on "Floating".
Step 5.Now we'll set our "Stroke" color to "null" and select our "Fill" color to a "Gradient" by using the color palette under the "Styles" section. (The stroke color is the color of the outline around the text. This usually isn't needed unless you are working with large lettering) |
|
Step 6.Gradients are blends of colors. For the purpose of this tutorial, don't worry about changing the colors or direction of the gradient. If you wanted to change the blended colors or the direction they appear, you could do that by clicking once on the "Fill" box. You can do that later as you practice more.
Step 7.Now that we've made all our selections, click "OK" and your gradient-filled text should appear on your wrapper.
Variations.Practice this tutorial once more, but this time select "Pattern" for the "Fill" style instead of "Gradient". (Our pattern was "glacier") |
